It was all she could do not to fight with him, and besides, she could easily be obliterated by her weakness at the moment. "Because I have no one to take care of me," she answered, and fell to the ground. The mage looked at her with a twinkle in his eye. "But you belonged to somebody at one point in time. And just how do I know this? I know this because they are looking for you now, and are approaching the last whiff of your scent now. My only question is, why did you run, Child?"

With an agitated growl, Amora replied, "I am not a child, and I ran because I was tired of being their pet. They never once were loving to me, and always treated me like a slave and more like property than family." She was angered, and the mage knew better than to provoke her any further. "Perhaps you need some help in hiding then?" With her eyes closed, Amora lay there for a second and thought about his offer. "Why are you helping me?" she asked. "Because I have rather taken a shining to you my dear," he said, and lent her his hand. Scenting it, she wondered if he meant good, or if it would be hazardous to be helped by him.

"I mean you no ill will," he assured, and kept his hand by her. Phasing to her anthro state, the mage carried her to the nearest town as she slept.

********************************~Somewhere in the town~***********************************

"GET OUT OF HERE! AND DON'T YOU EVER LET ME CATCH YOU HERE AGAIN!" Leah yelled as she tossed a drunkard out into the street. The man stumbled, but grinned in an eery way and tossed her coin purse back at her. "ye kin hev it!" he yelled back, and was soon on his way. After picking up her stolen coin purse, she looked up the road to see a fairly young man carrying a strange creature in his arms. The creature was neither human, but did not look like that of a dead animal either... at least nothing she had seen the hunters bring into town. Besides, this man did not look like a hunter either. Along with having some issues with thieves, the kings were having spies sent to each city.

There was only one way to find out. As the man carrying the mysterious creature in his arms came near her inn, she wondered if he was secretly a hunter, but maybe just not like those from around the parts. "Quite a catch there stranger," she said carefully, eying him suspiciously from the curb. "If I could trouble you, I would like to have two rooms for the night please."

"What business have you in this town?" Leah asked, going to wipe down a table that had just been exited and then to wipe up the counter before actually looking at the stranger. Something was definitely peculiar about him, but even more so for the thing he carried in. "Please," the mage asked, "she is ill and needs a room. I will pay whatever you ask for in gold." Gold was scarce around there, and you were lucky if you got a couple of ounces. "Anything?" Leah asked, knowing that she could use the gold to spruce up the inn. "Okay," she said, and lead the mage to the very top flight of stairs and to the end of the hall and to the right. "It's the best one I have so far," Leah said rather rushed, "I just redid it myself!"

The mage knew that she wanted the gold, but he would have to wait on payment for right now. "Amora," he whispered, "Amora, wake up." He shook her very gently and one of her eyes opened slowly. "What?" she growled. "We are here."
